WONG Kui Hung, Jeremiah is currently Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Government and Public Administration, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has previously served his alma mater Munsang College more than 40 years as its Council Chairman as well as its Alumni Association Chairman. He is now the Supervisor. Professor Wong was the founding President of Hong Kong Public Administration Association.

Mr. TUBBERT is the current Chairperson of the International Froebel Society. He is a senior lecturer at the Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education, Maynooth University, Ireland. He previously taught 4-12 years old children for over 20 years. He also has experience working for the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, the DICE Project and the International Froebel Conference. His research interests include curriculum integration of social, environmental and scientific education.

Gladys CHEUNG is currently Principal of Munsang College Kindergarten. She obtains her first and second degree in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. She is pursuing her Ph.D. in Education now. She has teaching experience in the sector for over 20 years.

Maggie CHAN is currently teacher of Munsang College Kindergarten. She obtains a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education and Certificate in Drama Education. She has experience teaching young children in Hong Kong for over 15 years.

仁愛之心、自由品性、文化倫理—— 一種“精神”取向的ALC教師教育課程模式

以往,深受工具理性主義、功利主義、實證主義的影響,中國大陸的學前教師教育課程模式比較注重學科知識、專業技能、實用技巧、而不太關注教師的“精神”成長,換言之,往昔的課程並沒有真正“觸及”到教師的“內在心靈”!不注重教師之理性智慧的萌發、人格品行的砥礪、道德良知的啟迪、詩意人生的熏陶與美好心靈的塑造、焉能有真正“精神”成長的教師?關注教師的“精神”成長是國際教師教育課程改革的重要趨勢。美國著名新聞作家塞爾伯曼(Silberman)在《教室的危機》一書中提出,“師資培育的危機和疲弊,在於忽視了人文教育的偉大精神力量。要真正成為一名精神成長的教育者,只依賴職業技能、學科知識的培養培訓是萬萬不可取的。”

因此,我們於2003年開始,進行了教師教育課程的改革,致於教師的“精神”成長, 吸收了黑格爾(Hegel)的“精神哲學”,斯普朗格(Spranger)、博爾諾夫(Bollnow) 的“文化教育學”,海德格爾(Heidegger)、雅斯貝爾斯(Jaspers)的“存在主義哲學”, 柏格森(Bergson)的“生命哲學”,伯林(Berlin)、哈耶克(Hayek)等人的政治哲學,吉魯(Giroux)、阿普爾(Apple)等人的批判教育學,同時基於中國儒釋道的文化傳統,提出了建構以教師的仁愛精神、自由精神與文化精神為核心的教師教育課程模式。

在教師教育課程的內容上,我們注重以下 三個方面的精神培育:

一是培育教師的“仁愛精神”(Agape),仁愛意味著教師要有“生生如己所生”的“大愛”精神,這是一種“上天對世人的公平、無私的愛”。唯有仁愛精神,方能做到“一棵樹搖動另一棵樹,一朵雲推動另一朵雲,一個靈魂喚醒另一個靈魂”(雅斯貝爾斯)。

二是喚醒教師的“自由精神”(Liberty)。自由的教師不僅擁有消極的自由(即拒絕權的自由),而且還具備了積極的自由(即選擇權和創造權的自由)︔;不僅擁有了外在的自由(即形式上的自由) ,而且還具備了內在的自由(即“形而上”的自由),從而能積極地投身於教育改革與專業發展的進程之中,才會真正成為影響與推進社會變革與進步的“轉化型知識份子”。

三是涵養教師的“文化精神”(Culture)。 “文明以止,人文文也,觀乎自然,以察時變,觀乎人文,以化成天下”。 “去中國化是很悲哀的,應該把這些經典嵌在學生的腦子裡,成為中華民族文化的基因”(習近平)我們通過文化閱讀—分享模式、文化體驗—欣賞模式、文化探究—展示模式這三種主要的模式涵養教師的文化精神, 十分注重教師人格品性的陶熔、詩意人生的熏陶、優良道德的潤澤。

在具體的實施方式和途徑上,我們主要運用了以下六種方方法:
一是注重“我”的“個人生活史”、
二是注重“我”的“真實震撼”、
三是注重“我”的“文化浸潤”、
四是注重“我”的“創意行動”、
五是注重“我”的“實踐現場”、
六是注重“我”的“使命擔當”。
ALC教師教育課程模式的改革取得了較好的效果與反響。

Prof. Bonnie YIM Hoi-yin is an Associate Professor and the Course Director of the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECE), BECE(International) and BECE (Honours) courses at Deakin University. Bonnie’s research interests include early childhood education and policy, child development, curriculum development and evaluation, cross-cultural studies, active learning engagement, and teacher education. She is an active researcher and has published widely in these areas. Bonnie has been conducting joint-research with Griffith University, RMIT, LaTrobe University, the SEED Institute in Singapore, and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (HKIVE). Bonnie is also an early years consultant in Australia, Singapore, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Indonesia.

Prof. Florrie NG Fei-yin is currently an associate professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She obtained her PhD in developmental psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a postdoctoral fellow at New York University and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Her research interests include parenting, achievement motivation, cross-cultural studies, and immigrant families.

Abstract

This talk will focus on several essential skills for the English language development of young children. In particular, the importance of developing vocabulary skills in the early years will be highlighted. This talk will examine instructional practices and features that promote language growth in early childhood classrooms. Strategies to support young children’s language development at home will also be discussed.

About the speaker
Prof. Carrie LAU Gay-lei is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include early childhood development and education, English language and literacy development and home-school connections. She has experience teaching young children in Hong Kong and in the United States. She received her Ph.D at The University of Hong Kong, Ed.M at Harvard Graduate School of Education and B.A. at Tufts University.

Dr. Amelia LEE Nam-yuk is a seasoned educator with many years of experience in teaching, curriculum design and educational management and is passionate about early childhood education, teacher training, and continuing education. She obtained her Doctor of Education from Durham University, United Kingdom. Her current research interest is directed to studying education policies.

Dr. LEE is active in a variety of government committees and professional bodies. She is Chairperson of the Committee on Early Childhood Education of the Curriculum Development Council and President of the World Organisation for Early Childhood Education, Hong Kong. She also serves on the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research and has played an active role in the Sub-committee on Communication Strategy under the Committee on Free Kindergarten Education.

九十年代開始在環保團體工作,見証了香港的環境教育工作的成長。從「獨沽一味」的環保講座開始到「教育戲劇」或「自然體驗學習」,看見了孩子在學習環保過程中的共鳴之處。曾以為不能改變環境的命運,可幸最後還剩半分堅持。其實人心不壞,只要敲中音頻,鐵罐水杯也能譜出閱耳和諧之曲。

幼兒怎樣看學習內容?以字詞教學為例

老師指著幼兒要學習的詞語圖卡:「大鵝」
老師:呢隻乜野來架?
幼兒:鴨仔
老師:唔…大…大乜野?
幼兒:大鴨!

老師想幼兒說出「鵝」,以為提示「大」,幼兒會說出「鵝」,然而幼兒的腦裡卻一直只有「鴨」。老師不明白幼兒的想法,教學上就會遇到不少困難。更常見的情況是,當老師教某一學習內容時,在教學活動中先說出這學習內容,再舉幾個例子來解釋。這裡假設,老師只要根據自己的理解來說明,幼兒聽到老師的說明後,就能得到與老師相同的理解。問題是,教學是否這樣簡單一個由老師傳遞到幼兒的過程?就相同的學習內容,幼兒與老師可能有根本不同的理解。因為理解不同,幼兒可能把老師所舉的例子,誤會為另一個完全不同的意思。所以重要的是,幼兒究竟怎樣理解學習內容?老師按此可以怎樣設計教學活動?這報告提出的,就是老師不只須要掌握課本上學習內容的意思,更要明白幼兒怎樣理解這些學習內容,這樣才可有效教導幼兒。這報告會以字詞教學為例,根據我們多年研究的結果,指出幼兒對於字詞的各方面理解,並介紹我們怎樣按此設計出相應的教學活動。我們期望報告能對老師的實際教學有所啟示,從而促進老師的教學專業知識。
